Presentation: CSA S478 Guideline on Durability in Buildings - “The Durability Process”
This presentation was given at the 2014 Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) Conference by David Kayll, FMA, P.Eng. and Building Science Specialist at Morrison Hershfield in combination with Brian Sim, AIBC, PP.FRAIC, Hon.FAIA, Hon.FCARM, at the request of Pro-Demnity Insurance Company.
The presentation looks at how the Ontario Building Code’s requirements for durability is to be interpreted and applied within the roles and responsibilities of the design team. It covers issues related to design service life of buildings and systems, the need for clarification of expectations within the durability process, and how to create a “Durability Plan."
