The annual Consulting Engineers of Ontario (CEO) awards ceremony was a little different this year! In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, CEO hosted a live virtual event on YouTube to announce the finalists and winners of the 2020 OCEA Awards.
Morrison Hershfield scored a hat trick at the 2019 Canadian Consulting Engineering (CCE) Awards Gala in Ottawa Tuesday night. In addition to two Awards of Excellence, we were honored with the Tree for Life Special Achievement Award for a project demonstrating outstanding environmental stewardship.
In recognition of International Women in Engineering Day, we want to highlight the importance of the 30 by 30 initiative. Increasing the percentage of newly licensed female engineers to 30 percent by 2030 will require consistent and constant attention to the issues that have caused the gender imbalance in the engineering profession.
Engineers Canada has released a series of videos profiling this year’s award recipients. One of those featured is Morrison Hershfield’s COO, Catherine Karakatsanis, P.Eng., who received the prestigious Gold Medal Award in recognition of her remarkable achievements and contributions.
TORONTO, CANADA (May 24, 2019) – Catherine Karakatsanis, P.Eng., received the 2019 Engineers Canada Gold Medal, this country’s top honor among the 295,000 Professional Engineers in Canada, at a ceremony in Québec City. Each year, the Gold Medal may be awarded to a Professional Engineer for “exceptional individual achievement and distinction in a field of engineering”. This includes industry accomplishments, service to the engineering profession and contribution to the community, and sets the bar high for those who follow in their footsteps.
