Standards and codes across North America are becoming more stringent with regards to accepted air leakage rates in completed construction. As a result, air leakage testing is increasingly becoming a code requirement.
Learn how to better assess existing sheet metal flashings and properly design new joints.
A year in development, the course is separated into three distinct segments:
Hassalo on Eighth has won a 2016 Best Projects Award from Engineering News-Record in the Residential/Hospitality category for ENR’s Northwest Region.
ETFE, Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene, a highly resistant, multi-purpose plastic compound used as a clear “foil” roofing system, is quickly gaining popularity in large-scale projects
Prime consultant Morrison Hershfield and lead design architect gh3 were honored at the Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence ceremony
Morrison Hershfield’s Rick Ziegler has recently received RCI, Inc.’s 2016 Richard M. Horowitz Memorial Award for his article titled Achieving Building Enclosure Performance Through Energy Modeling and Commissioning. RCI, Inc. is an international association of building envelope consultants. Members specialize in design, investigation, repair, and management of roofing, exterior wall, and waterproofing systems.
The award is presented for the best technical article of the year published in RCI’s technical journal, Interface.

In order to continue providing our clients with outstanding specialty Building Envelope Commissioning services, several Morrison Hershfield staff have received both their accreditation as Building Enclosure Commissioning Process Provider (BECxP), and Commissioning Authority + Building Enclosure Knowledge Requirements (CxA+BE) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The A/E/C industry is continuing to recognize the significant impact of the building envelope on the performance, durability, energy use, and sustainability of the building. As such, the principles of Commissioning are being applied to confirm the quality of the design and construction of the envelope.
Morrison Hershfield has developed an energy optimization tool (demonstrated below) to empower you and your project team in meeting your energy targets while enabling your design vision.
Congratulations to Morrison Hershfield’s Dan Dahl for receiving the Committee Service Award, presented by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
Morrison Hershfield staff published three papers this April at the BEST4 Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. The quartet of Christian Cianfrone, Patrick Roppel, Radu Postole and Neil Norris worked alongside other subject matter experts presented the following:
Principal and Building Science Specialist Patrick Roppel, M.A.Sc., P.Eng. published the following article, "Optimizing Building Envelope Renewals," in the May/June 2015 edition of Construction Business.
