Brian B. Ball, ALS, CLS, a senior land surveyor with Morrison Hershfield, has recently been elected President of the Alberta Society of Surveying and Mapping Technologies (ASSMT). In this role, Brian offers over 25 years of industry experience to ASSMT and will help the organization achieve their mission of promoting the knowledge, skills and proficiency of technicians and technologists involved in the field of surveying and mapping.
Morrison Hershfield, IBM and WZMH hosted GTA data centre professionals at the Toronto Board of Trade on May 11th to discuss “The Edge”.
Phill Lawson-Shanks, keynote speaker from EdgeConneX, presented remarkable insight into changes in internet usage patterns, technologies connecting users to the internet and emerging needs for improved data centre infrastructure to support these changes.
Ryan Gidluck, P.Eng., PMP, Vice President Infrastructure with Morrison Hershfield, has been named to the Consulting Engineers of Alberta’s (CEA) Board of Directors for a three-year term, beginning 2017-2018. In this role, Ryan hopes to support CEA’s key priorities, including the promotion of Quality Based Selection in our industry and the Contract Terms and Conditions initiative.
Sunday, May 7th, started out as a gloomy day that had us dreading the ride ahead. As a team, Morrison Hershfield registered fifteen participants for the CN Cycle for CHEO fundraiser; ten for the 70 km ride, three for the 35 km ride and two for the 15 km ride. While we had trained hard for the upcoming event, none of us were quite ready for the weather that greeted us at the starting line.

Today, February 1, 2016, marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Morrison Hershfield.
The Seaway International Bridge first opened in 1962. According to Morrison Hershfield’s Robert Goulet, the bridge “had reached pretty well the end of its service life. When they looked at options of doing rehabilitation or building new, it made more sense to build new.”
